This Compliance Checklist was designed to assist healthcare facilities in auditing current prescription writing and printing processes to determine if they are in compliance with the new Centers for Medicaid & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.

As of October 1, 2008, all handwritten or computer generated prescriptions must contain at least one feature in all three of the following categories in order to be considered tamper resistant. No one feature may be counted twice. On the list below, please check off all of the security features that your facility is currently using to produce Medicaid prescriptions.
